This Week at Time Out Youth!

MONDAY - FRIDAY: DROP-IN SPACE 

3:00pm-6:30pm

Time Out Youth Center has a fun and comfortable Group Room with TV, Wi-Fi, video games and board games. We always have plenty of healthy snacks and drinks available during Drop-In Hours to make everyone feel at home. Youth can also make use of our David Bohnett Cyber Center, LGBTQ Library and Multi-Purpose Room during Drop-In Hours. 

TUESDAY: MAKING MUSIC TOGETHER

4:30pm - 5:30pm

Want to make a TOY theme song? How about educational songs about gender and sexuality? A protest song for HB2? Or just bang some drums together and make some noise! All of these are possible. We hope you will join us on Tuesday’s for some awesome musical space with our friends from Queen's University. This will be happening on Tuesday at 4:30pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.

TUESDAY: TOY GASTON - LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS

5:00pm - 8:30pm

This event takes place at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Gaston, North Carolina

TOY Gaston is Time Out Youth Center's monthly Drop-In Space and Discussion Group in Gaston North Carolina for LGBTQ youth 13-20. TOY Gaston is hosted on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Gaston (258 W. Franklin Blvd.). Each month PFLAG Gaston provides dinner and volunteers to support the TOY Gaston programming. 

5:00-6:00pm: Drop-In Space

WEDNESDAY: TALKING ABOUT OUR NEW SPACE

6:30pm - 8:30pm

This week's discussion group is all about our move to our new Center! Come join us for a discussion about changes in programming and to give your input on what you want to see in our new space. We will also be discussing Homecoming Week, which will be our first full week in the new Center. Help us make this amazing move for our Center the absolute best!

THURSDAY: RELAXATION SPACE W/ YOGA ONE

4:30pm - 5:30pm

Start your 2017 off right with some meditation, mindfulness and FUN with our friends from YOGA ONE studios. YOGA ONE teachers will be here in January at 4:30pm on January 12 and 26th so come ready for yoga.

THURSDAY: TEA TIME & EXTENDED DROP-IN SPACE

6:30pm - 8:30pm

Tea Time is a discussion space designed for transgender and non-binary youth, as well as for youth questioning their gender identity. This space is facilitated by our staff Counselor Trey Greene and will explore topics relevant to trans youth. Join us for our next Tea Time session this Thursday. For youth not participating in Tea Time, we will have Extended Drop-In Space in the Group Room. 

FRIDAY: POETRY NIGHT 

6:30pm - 8:30pm

Come kick off your weekend at Time Out Youth Center with our friend the Guerilla Poets and Poetry Night. Join us for a night of poetry, music, and LOVE! Everyone is welcome to share their own poetry, read a favorite poem of theirs, or just listen and support other youth sharing their words. 

 

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month -  Teen DV Month (sometimes called TDVAM) is a national effort to raise awareness about abuse in teen and 20-something relationships and promote programs that prevent it. Dating violence is more common than many people think. One in three teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with before they become adults. Help us spread awareness and stop dating abuse before it starts!

Vote on this year's Prom theme! Time Out Youth Center's annual Prom is around the corner and we need YOUth to help us pick out our Prom theme. This year's Prom will be held on Friday, April 21st from 7-10pm at the VanLandingham Estate. More details to come soon. Packets with prom tickets and posters will go out to GSAs in areas schools in March. Voting will run until Friday, April 24th. Follow this link to learn more and cast your vote!

Come make music with us! Our friends from Queens University’s Music Therapy Program are back this semester to keep rocking out with you in our space! Join them on Tuesday’s at 4:30pm in the Multi-Purpose room for a musical afternoon. Everyone can join, regardless of skill level, so come make some noise.

Need free health services? Planned Parenthood provides free services (STI testing, birth control, etc) to youth, including 19 year olds who are uninsured or don’t want to use their caregiver’s insurance. For more information, please visit www.plannedparenthood.org or speak to a staff member.
