Being a parent is never easy.  One of the most challenging things parents and families may face is dealing with issues of sexuality and/or gender identity. 

Research has demonstrated that positive communication between parents and their children can help young people establish individual values and make healthy decisions.  When parents are open and talk to their children with honesty and clarity, young people are more likely to develop confident, healthy attitudes about themselves.  We recognize that such conversations can be challenging.
