Student Workshops

GSA WORKSHOPS: Time Out Youth Center offers workshops and presentations for Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) and other student groups at your school with topics such as growing and sustaining club membership, structuring and leading meetings, organizing for the calendar year, supporting transgender and gender nonconforming students, healthy relationships, local LGBTQ resources, and advocating for safe schools. Workshops can be customized to meet your club’s needs.

SPEAKERS BUREAU:  Time Out Youth Center’s Speakers Bureau is a unique workshop led by LGBTQ youth. The goal of this program is to eliminate bias, homophobia, and transphobia. Trained LGBTQ youth tell their personal stories of coming out and community/family acceptance, then answer questions from the audience about their experiences. Presentations can be scheduled as a stand-alone engagement of one hour for students or faculty, or they can be scheduled as a component of another workshop.

HOW TO BE AN ALLY: Time Out Youth Center offers workshops for middle and high school students on how to be an ally to LGBTQ students. This workshop includes a discussion of important terms and concepts related to LGBTQ identities, obstacles this youth population faces at home and school, and how to be an ally and support LGBTQ classmates in their school.
